Ok guys, I'll be a junior at the University of Arizona this fall. I'm transferring from a CC and I'm practically done with most of my pre-reqs. I just need to take the PCAT, a year of Ochem and a semester of Physics and Microbiology. Now here comes the big problem, I want to get into pharmacy school in the Fall of 2013. By the time I take the PCAT i'll still be taking Ochem and Microbiology. Is it possible to get accepted into pharmacy school with this kind of schedule and when would it be ok to take the PCAT.

Yes it is possible to get accepted into pharmacy school with your kind of schedule. If you take your PCAT in January and finish all of your pre-reqs by the end of spring 2013 (or summer 2013) then you are good to go. This route is a risky one though because you'll be applying near deadlines for most schools and if you don't have a good GPA right now when you're applying that would hurt severely.

Another route is to take the PCAT in this upcoming September and applying as early as possible. Assuming your GPA and PCAT scores are competitive.

I'm not sure UA will take the PCAT if taken in January. You'll need to contact admissions. UA also opens the app in September. You'll be able to submit fall grades in december for consideration. Interviews start in january/february (based on previous cycles). If you want to start pharmacy school fall of 2013, you'll need to apply this cycle.

I would say its definitely possible. In my opinion I dont think you should study more than a couple weeks for the PCAT. Focus on Bio and Chem, if you dont have a strong vocabulary I really dont think you can prep for that part. I am horrible at math and my math score reflects that but my composite is good. Good luck and definitely sign up for the Sept PCAT

I took my pcat before i took organic, just for fun to get an idea of what it was like and got a 420, which isnt AMAZING but was good enough with my 3.8 gpa to get into pharm school. i think you should take the pcat as early as possible to get an idea of what its like to see how you will do, you might not need those classes to do well if you are good at math, general chem, & writing.
