When do most people purchase loupes? If you plan to use them in clinic I'm assuming you'd want to use them from the get go?

We get them second semester of first year at UB. We're the first class at our school to get it this early.

About 95% of students in my class bought loupes right when operative started. Operative started mid way through the first semester of D1 year at UMD.

Loupes + decent head light = the best investments you will make in your dental career >> I wish I had them when I first started in the sim lab (probably less initial growing pains)

I bought mine during first year simulation stuff. I had 3.5's in EF (which I love) so I had a bit of adjustment compared to most of my friends that got 2.5's. But I used them from the start and I am so happy I did; definitely improved posture (forced me to sit correctly) and helped me now that I'm with patients. The difference of kinda seeing the opening to the canal vs actually being able to see the gutta percha all the way at the end of the canal when doing something like a post and core = reason to get higher mag and get used to them. By the time you're a 4th year, you'll be thankful for the extra details you notice.

You definitely want to get them sooner than later. It takes a little bit to get used to, definitely don't wait until 4th year because you want to be comfortable with them before boards. They'll be wearing them so if you're not, they're seeing what you are missing!!

Late first semester or early second semester.

I'd say get measured before Christmas break and/or on break and then they should be shipped to you by early second semester. It takes about 3-4 weeks to build them and then get them out to you.
