I have a 3.0 cGPA, 3.9 sGPA, 507 MCAT and currently in a DO school SMP with all As so far. What are my chances at DO?
I applied to 13 DO schools (sent 10 secondaries) this cycle but have not heard from any yet, so I'm starting to wonder if my cGPA or MCAT is holding me back. I am a nontraditional student, with a former BS and MA in economics, sporadic work experience, 250 hours shadowing MDs, and about 700 clinical experience (volunteering at free clinic doing medical assistant type tasks and hospital). I don't have any experiences for the last 2 years due to having a baby and then the pandemic.

Your chance for DO is good. How far into the SMP are you? Does it have a linkage to the DO program (i.e. conditional acceptance/interview clause)?

Thank you for your answer! I just finished the summer semester with a 4.0 and now in the fall semester. The program is a year long and has a guaranteed interview only, which is why I applied broadly.

Which DO schools did you apply to? Where is your state of residence ?
I'm california resident. I applied to the 3 DO schools in california, western comp in oregon, the RVUCOMs, both LECOM campuses, PCOM, Noorda, NYIT, CCOM, Rowan, Marian and MSUCOM.

Why DO? With a solid personal statement and EC's you should be able to go MD

Chances good if you continue to do well in the program.
