Low DAT, Decent GPA

Hello Everyone,

My overall GPA is 3.74 and science GPA is 3.54. However, I did not do well on the DAT: 18 AA, 17 TS, 16 PAT, 19 RC, 18 QC, 17 Bio, 18 OC, 18 GC. My goal is to honestly get into any dental school; I really want to be a dentist! I applied really late to my two in-state schools this year. I got 1 interview, but was not offered admission. I honestly don't have much time or money to retake the DAT, but do you guys think I should retake? Or, do you think I could get admission somewhere in the next cycle by applying early?

The fact that you applied late to your state school and got an interview is awesome. Obviously your app must be decent and have other things besides your DAT but if I were you I'd retake just to be safe. The admissions process is a gamble and the AA of admitted students is creeping towards 20 now.

Thank you for you responses. I used Chad's Videos, DAT Destroyer, DAT Bootcamp, Cliff's AP Biology, and some parts of the Kaplan Blue Book.

Youre going to have to retake it or spend a lot of money to apply to private schools and even more to travel/accomodations for interviews. You should get your finances down now to prepare.

How long did you study? What school do you attend? Were you using a current edition of the DAT Destroyer? Did you complete all the work and know all the material inside and out. Your scores are just average and most dental schools want scores around 20. You did get 1 interview, maybe you should call them and inquire why you did not get accepted, did you get wait listed?
