Low GPA! Help!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What do you mean by a Troll Coolslugs? And would schools prefer a masters over a post bac? Or They are veiwed as the same?

it depends. If you already have all the prerequisites that dental schools require, post-bac is not necessary. If not, then post-bac is a must.

Good luck!

You are most definitely going to need to do some sort of academic program. Informal/formal post-baccs will only add to your undergraduate GPA, so even if you do really well and get a 4.0 it will NOT significantly raise your overall GPA. If you enroll in a graduate program, AADSAS will create a new graduate GPA for you. I personally would enroll in a M.S. program in a science-related field (preferably an SMP), as this was advised to me by several adcoms (but apparently there are schools that would consider a post-bacc adequate). If you want more info on these programs, search the post-bacc forum and also contact the schools you are interested in and get their opinion.

My Undergrad GPA is a 2.7. Is a Post Bac or a Masters Program necessary?

Definitely enroll in an MS or post bacc program. MS is a little better only because they have the separate GPA, and that maybe weighed a little more heavily than your low undergrad GPA.
