Hello, this is my first post.. I just want everyone's opinion.
So I kind of bombed a few courses in undergrad, and have a few Ds on my transcript. I am retaking 3 of the classes I got D's in at another University. I just have an issue.. I have all of my LORs complete, hours of shadowing at different opt clinics, outstanding ECs, months of work experience at a privately owned glasses shop, Leadership in the Optometry club, and will have completed my BSc at a highly accredited Canadian University in Ontario.
1) I took physics II twice, I recieved an F the first time, and a D+ the second time. (I know, I know. no excuses, I had a rigorous course load and was too involved in extracurriculars than I should have been, I'm explaining this in my essay) So now during the fall semester, I am taking a higher level physics with a lab to offset the first two bad marks in physics II. Is this better than retaking physics II altogether? Do I really need to retake physics II again? I'm also retaking physics I to offset a C- I recieved the first time. (This is the 3rd course I am retaking at the moment in summer school in addition to two others I got D's in.. so I am trying to improve my app) Summer school ends in about a week, and then I will apply...
2) Should I just wait and apply in December when my GPA is a liitttllee higher? Or should I apply now and risk immediate rejection from schools? I'm applying to PCO, ICO, NOVA, IAUPR, Western, and SCO. I really don't want to do a post bacc or anything as I know I wouldn't be doing it for the right reasons as my true passion is Optometry,, I just made some mistakes along the road and bit off more than I could chew🙁
3) I am applying now with a 2.5 GPA, but it will increase to a 2.7 in December, and I will do an academic update then. I took my OAT yesterday, and recieved a 350AA and 360TS. Will this OAT score, plus my ECs/shadowing/work experience be enough to offset my low GPA 🙁 All my other pre-reqs are Cs and above, but I really did well in those sections on the OAT. (I studied for 7 months, and took a prep course for the OAT.)
Any suggestions?
