Ok I know there are forums out there, but I have two specific questions. I have an average 3.2 gpa I took the DAT last year and got AA18 with low 16 RC, no interviews. I got admitted to this Biomedical Science one year masters program. I have scheduled to take the DAT this August. I need some advice. Ok, I know for a fact I will have much higher gpa for my first quarter of my masters program. I wanted to know what average DAT score would I need to be even considered for an interview. The other question is should i submit my application right away or wait until my first quarter of my masters program is finished to show im doing well in graduate school?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank You ALL!

with a 3.2 GPA, you probably want 21AA/21TS minimum.

and btw how many schools did you apply to?

I personally don't believe there is any DAT score that can make up for a low gpa. You should look into post-bacc or master's programs, and get a high DAT as well. I have been told by numerous school's that an individuals GPA has more weight because it shows more hard work and commitment as opposed to studying for 3 months for the DAT.

If I may ask, where is the masters program?

Hm, what if you have a GPA 3.6 science and 3.57 overall ? What should I aim minimum ?

Yes of course because I had to work 50+ hours a week throughout my undergrad. I am not a lazy person, but it is difficult to do both at the same time with no time off.

I have been accepted to Midwestern University - Biomedical Science Masters program.

so u applied to their dental school and they offered a masters program to you when u didnt even specifically apply for masters? cuz that sounds interesting

3.2 isn't going to be his dead end. People still get in with 3.2's without post bacc. they just generally have very high DAT scores to compensate for it (22AA+). now if ur gpa was below 3.0 thats a different story

Yes, actually he said that my application looked good, it was just not competitive DAT or gpa & suggested I did the Masters Program so I agreed! Like I said I was working full time so that I don't have any debt to add on to dental school & I also found the time to volunteer in the community and shadow different dentists. If I didn't have any work which I will not when going to grad school my gpa will be no less than 3.8. The previous DAT I haven't really practiced enough and used all the good resources out there, which I am hoping will help me bring up my DAT to above 21.

Seems like you had a lot of events to juggle throughout your undergrad. If at all possible, I'd minimize all other distractions (work, volunteering, etc.) and do your best to have a few 4.0 semesters.. Then take a month or two off to do some intense studying for the DAT, hopefully make a ~21, and you should be set 👍

what do you guys suggest for 3.4 overall and 3.3 science (also i am currently taking post-bacc so that should boost my gpa a bit )

with slow below GPA, you probably want to couple it with slightly above DAT.

so if ur goa was 3.4/3.3, you probably want our DAT to be 20/21
