Are there particular schools that are known for admitting those with lower GPAs than the average? I know other factors apply, like the DAT, I was just wondering if there are certain schools who weigh GPA less.

This is probably a stupid question...sorry 😳

My dental school roommate’s wife had a very low GPA (sorry, I didn’t know her exact GPA). She knew that there was no chance for her to get accepted to any dental school. So she applied and got accepted to NYU dental hygiene program. A year later, she applied to the regular DDS program (also at NYU) and got accepted. She didn’t stop there. After she got her DDS, she did one year of GPR, applied to endo programs and got accepted to NYU endo.

You need to study really hard for the DAT and try to score exceptionally high on this test…I think it is a lot more important than your GPA. Good Luck!

I think UoP traditionally weights the DAT scores a lot. So if you have the pre-reqs done, a decent GPA, and great DAT scores, apply there.
