1. Most people here will ask you to give more information.
2. Most people will also tell you that you'd have a bad chance (metrics alone) to get into an allopathic medical school.
3. Most people would advise you to stick with DOs unless you plan on retaking the MCAT.

I will advise you of the following: (1) Apply. I don't know your story, I cannot say one way or the other just based on the metrics, but what I can say is: what's the worst that can happen? Rejected, well, welcome to the planet Earth. It happens to everyone at some point or another. (2) There is nothing I, nor anyone, can say that you don't already know. You are a smart individual to have made it this far and thus, I am sure what you will read is just confirmations of what you already "know". (3) With that said, you won't find much sympathy here, they will be pretty cut throat especially with you said metrics.

have you checked out MSAR?
I've looked at MSAR for the MD schools and I know a 27 won't go too far for most schools (not unheard of though). I'm curious if anyone has ideas of any MD schools that might be worth applying to with these stats (even anecdotal advice would be great).

I'm mainly interested in the DO list. Are these numbers competative for the DO schools listed? Is it advantagous to apply to more DO schools?

Thanks!

The metrics are competitive for DO in general but I am not sure how much of a negative factor the 7's will be. I would add Ohio University and Lake Erie to the list for DO

i'll play along just because. if he/she wants to apply to any MD schools, he/she will need to be pretty selective and use MSAR and as much in state preference as they can.

good candidate for most if not all DO schools. the 7 shouldn't give too much trouble, but again.. just be selective.

Guys, why don't you lay off of everyone! Seriously, you make people not want to post anything. Lalalaaaaa, I'm sorry you have to deal with this. They really have no empathy for anyone and are all entitled kids who've never really had a lot of hardships. So it is unfortunate that they treat you such ways. But anyway, I think you alright to apply.

You're not even reading the posts at this point...

Friend doesn't have SDN so posting for them. Chill out and help out.

Ok, understandable. It's just that there's been an inordinate amount of trolling (see above post) over the past few days so people are on edge.

Agree w/ others, the 7 on BS isn't swell (~75% of test-takers score above a 7) but I don't think it's going to ruin anything.

I don't know much about a number of the schools you listed, other than those in Ohio.
  • Toledo is a bit of a reach. Their median LizzyM is a 70. Also, Toledo isn't exactly an awesome city.
  • Wright State has a very high IS preference, but they do accept OOS. I think Dayton is actually pretty nice once you learn your way around.
  • OU, while a good school, essentially requires that graduates practice in Ohio for several years. Athens is also in the middle of nowhere. But if those things aren't an issue, I'd apply.
  • You didn't list NEOMED, but that's fine. I wouldn't consider it.

Statistically, yes. I think your friend has a decent shot at a number of DO programs, and will probably draw consideration from some MDs as well. His/her GPA is significantly above average for DO.
Not sure why you think being an EMT = weak clinical, it's better than what most people have.

Thanks for the sympathy, but I totally get that they thought I was trolling because the post doesn't reflect my other info. Though I am kind of offended because this would be TERRIBLE trolling: "Hey, here is a neutural position, give me advice." I could totally do better than that :/
