As an ESL student, I've had trouble with the vocab and reading sections on the pcat, which always seem to cause my overall composite to be low. With an excellent 4.0 GPA, strong letters of recommendation, pharmacy work experience, extracurricular activities, but low pcat score, do you think I have a chance of at least getting an interview? I've applied to the University of Minnesota and University of Oklahoma.

I'm not sure about those schools but I've seen people get in or at least get an interview with similar stats as yours. I think since they know that English is not your first language, they would understand why your verbal and reading scores are so low.

From what I've read, you would be an excellent Minnesota candidate. Do you have a bachelor's degree because Minnesota gives strong preference to those with a bachelor's degree (80% of admitted students)? Otherwise, you seem to be the "whole package" the U of MN is looking for. 🙂

I think you can get in no problem. They will look at the whole picture, plus you can always explain yo them that english is not your first language. Also, you can apply to california schools, which most are very good, and they dont require pcats, so your results wont matter. Dont worry, youre in good shape. Good luck:luck:

unfortunately, no bachelors yet...

but you guys gave me some hope...thank you! 🙂

What is your low PCAT?

medicalcpa has said numerous times that the University of Minnesota has accepted someone with a composite of 19. Supposedly, it is on their website. I have not ever inquired about it though.

It seemed to me that some of the applicantions that they recieved in the pass had that composite but not "accepted" applicants. I thought it said that the average percentile was in the 80's. but if what youre saying is true, that would be awesome! 🙂
