I took DAT today and got low RC score..

My score is

Pat 19
QR 22
RC 13
Bio 21
G chem 26
Ochem 23
Total science 23
AA 21

Overal GPA :3.8 Science GPA : 3.8

I will apply next year...
Do you guys know anyone who got in any dental school with super low RC score? Should I take DAT again???

I heard that some schools have cutoff for RC score...

Please let me know about that........

Are you applying this cycle? If so, call up the schools and check their cut-offs!

RC 13 doesn't look good buddy. That's really low. Unfortunately you need to retake and bring that up to at least 18. Well, unless you're an underrepresented minority...

Ummm...that isn't one bit true. You have great scores other than RC.
Why does he need an 18? As though his other scores are low and he needs to make up for it...

I also think he should retake because with his great scores, he's gonna be looking to some good schools and unfortunately, those have cutoffs. At the moment, he won't even make it to schools with 15 cutoffs let alone those with 17 cutoffs. I'm sure he didn't guess his way to a 21AA so if he just brushes up on RC, the OP will have the pick of good schools. His other scores would definitely make up for a low score of 17 or 16 but a 13 is just a little too low. Specially on RC which is considered one of the more important sections.

it depends on the schools you're applying to, but it definetely couldn't hurt. it just sucks that it was in RC, because had it been in QR or even one of the sciences, i think your other scores would have made up for it.

so basically, if any of the schools you want to go to have a cutoff, then you'll have to retake (as the lowest cutoff is around 15), but if you want to go to a school without a cutoff, i think you'll be fine...you may want to talk to someone from admissions though to make sure.

also, as someone said earlier...with such solid science scores, you should be able to do well in science again on a retake, while i can't see you getting a 13 twice on RC. with your scores, i think you'd be able to get solid scores across the board with a retake, but it's really up to you in the end...

Read a book other than the texts dude. 🙂 Your scores are killer. And dental schools may consider all your scores combined. If you do decent on the reading the next time, but not as hot on the other stuff, it'll at least show it was a fluke.
