Hi guys
I'm planning on applying to PT schools this fall.

Right now, my science GPA is around a 2.85. I got B's in both physics (8 units total), b's in both anatomy (5 units) and physio (5 units). I got a C in chem1a and a B in chem 1b (5 units each as well). I have not taken my 2 bio classes yet.

However, my cumulative GPA is around 3.44, with my last 60 units being around 3.6. My program specific GPA ranges from a 3.2 to a 3.4 for most schools.

I still have two biology classes to take (9 units total), if I get an A in both of them, my science GPA will go up to 3.11.

Should I worry about my low science GPA? Should I retake any of those classes in the fall, or will getting A's in my bios be enough? I didnt want to retake Chem 1A since I got a B in chem1B and would hope schools would be satisfied with the improvement I showed between the two. Any help would be appreciated. Im not sure what to do

Just have everything else good and you maybe got a shot but I will say the lower your pre-req GPA, the tougher things are.

Just make sure the rest of the application is strong: gre scores, observation hours, essay and letters of recommendation. Also do some research on schools that have a lower average gpa of accepted students. I didn't have the highest gpa or the best gre scores but I was still accepted. It's tough and very stressful but it's very possible.

Thanks guys. I've made a list of about 8-10 schools that have lower GPA averages and seem realistic. Just really stressed about the low science GPA, all B's and 1 C is kind of annoying.

Also have one more question. If a school wants 8 units of a prerequisite course such as chemistry for their (4units each class) and I've taken 10 units (5 each class), but they're the same chemistry courses they've listed, do they count those chemistry courses as 10 units total or 8 units total when calculating my GPA?

One last question. Would taking the GRE in late July be okay or should I try taking it earlier? I'm aware the first deadline is October 2nd, so I thought that would be enough time. However I'm applying to a few schools with rolling admission cycles so I'm just a little unsure

Schools usually look at the gpa on the ptcas app, unless they make you fill out pre reqs in their supplemental app. Each program is different. Definitely submit your app as soon as possible for the rolling admissions schools. You can always submit all your coursework, essay, and personal info sooner rather than later because it takes a few weeks for them to check your courses.

Considering retaking Chem 1A this fall as I'm applying to schools this year. It's the only science and prerequisite class that I have a C in. Everything is else is a B or A.

Is getting a B in Chem 1b good enough already. Or should I try to raise my science/prereq GPA by retaking chem1a. I haven't taken Chem in 2 years so I'm kinda hesitant to retake 1A again. What do you guys think?

Its a tough call because some schools have deadlines before you will finish that class and will only see you are retaking it but may make decisions before you ever show what grade you earn. I retook my chem 1 but I did it in the spring before applying so my grade was on the application when I initially submitted. I was recommended to retake C's in my prereq classes and I felt it did help. I also had 7 years in between my chemistry classes so its possible.
