I’d say if you want to make sure that programs know you’re really interested in FM, try to make sure your application/extracurriculars are in line with that. I am no expert, just a thought.

I don’t think you’ll have any problems getting interviews, west coast or elsewhere. Not because of step scores anyway. Your letters will speak to commitment thing, so don’t worry about that.
