So throughout my entire undergrad I've consistently received A and A- grades, but with taking off nearly a week and a half straight in September for interviews, and my wife giving birth to our son next week, I'm wondering what could potentially happen if I get a couple Bs this semester (only genetics and ochem are up in the air at this point), or even a C in ochem II.

Has anyone been through this type of experience where your grades dropped relatively significantly in the Fall of interviewing--is it common? How did/would the schools respond to this? If I get accepted on Dec 1, as long as I get a C or above in Fall classes am I technically okay, or might they reconsider my application? I know it may sound obsessive, but I've worked my tail off thus far and don't want to lose it in the last stretch.

I'm in the same boat... I'm taking Biochem I, Microbio II, Genetics, and an Ecology course, while interviewing and working... my grades are definitely going to slide.

+1 for some advice 😀

Word on the street has it that B's will suffice once you get accepted.

I'm in the same boat...

Taking Physics 1, Anatomy, and Biochem..

Probably will end up with a C, and 2 B's.

Perhaps a current DS could comment on this, someone who has already encountered this?

First, google/search sdn/check school's site to try and find out what the school requires.
Second, ask at the interview or email them.

B's will do for sure, C's MAY be enough. I don't remember any schools requiring more than B's but there may be some.

This should be in the predental forum. You would probably get more replies there anyway.

micro 410 and biol 356 by any chance??

Honestly, if you're an A/A- student and you get a couple B's or **gasp** a C, you'll be fine.

Hup

Your going to get a few Bs and you think you can be a dentist? Time to start thinking about a career change my friends.

Awesome! yeahhh! I fall asleep in that class..

looks like you're taking a pretty heavy load and very busy... good luck with everything man.

At least at the dental school I went to, if you already had an interview and were accepted you have to royally screw up for them to revoke your acceptance. I have one friend that ended up a couple credits short and didn't even get his undergraduate degree and still went on to dental school (this however has been changed in policy, the BA or BS is now required). But you get my point.
