okay folks,

we all know rad programs want high scores, and most people who apply have that. just like med schools want people with 11+ on mcat and 3.8 gpa in theory. but not everyone has that type of numbers.

so what is the lowest board score you've ever heard for a rad resident? (not applied but actually got into a program) anyone below 210? 200 ? 190? if they did, what 'other' things did they have to of set their low step 1?

Someone posted on auntminnie several months ago who go a 198 and matched. I don't remember where.

I am also aiming for radiology and what I am finding is that the numbers do not always matter. I know two people who graduated middle of my class with average boards scores who got radiology due to nepotism. You cannot go by what the lowest score anyone has ever gotten.

yeah...a colleague of mine who is currently a flight surgeon had a classmate in medical school that matched into a university program because her father was a faculty member...nepotism sucks..then again, if I was in similar circumstances I would've took the spot as well... 😎

no it's not right...but the world is not perfect and this kind of stuff happens all the time...you better hope the guy works his arse off and makes the most of what he has been given 👍
