I know there's some LSU people out there! Can anyone tell me their experience going the ED route? Did it benefit you and what was your situation? Thanks! 🙂

I heard that a few of my fellow Tech students applied early. However, I've never heard of anyone getting in early. Most of the people I know apply early so that they will be well accustomed to the admissions process by the time they apply the next year with their degree. The admissions process is a mess, so try to get some experience in that area. All the doctors I know that went to Tech got in after they got their degree, even though they applied early. If you have a 4.0 and a 30+ MCAT, go for it. If you don't, go for it anyway. At least you'll get some admissions experience.

Thanks for your reply. I am talking about the Early Decision option, in which you can apply to one school only by an earlier deadline, and get an earlier decision. Are you referring to Early Admissions for undergrads?

I did EDP for New Orleans. For me it was a great experience. I knew where I was going by Sept. 29. It is fairly risky applying EDP, but if that is where you want to go then do it. A little sidenote: Every person I know who applied EDP from LSU-Baton Rouge got in (about 6 or 7 of us.... total 20 EDP applicants). I think I may have another post about this from a while back. You may want to look at it since it was a long time ago.

It's just my opinion but if LSU-NO (or any other school) is your first choice and you can/are invited to apply EDP I would do it.

The only risk is that you may not get in immediately in September and will have to wait until then to designate your AMCAS to other schools. That's not that big of a deal IMO. It's verified and complete so just has to be transmitted. The LSU schools are really just starting general interviews in late-October to early-November.

Every EDP person I've known has either immediately been accepted or been accepted at a later date that application cycle. Good luck.
