I must say, I was impressed. After reviewing the previous posts, and looking for other opinions, I was not left with a whole lot of NEW information as there has been no recent posting or discussion about this program (everything available is a few years old!).
This program is definitely on its way UP and has a lot going for it! (Apparently A LOT can happen in a short amount of time.) It is still on the smaller side in terms of the number of residents, however the faculty is diverse, largely fellowship-trained and the residents seem happy. They also got a new residency coordinator according to the residents and I liked her a lot...she was very on top of things.
It does have its drawbacks though. It doesn't appear to be a particularly "rich" department with excess financial support, and you do have to be ok with living in Shreveport (but the residents say nearby Bossier City is a very nice place to live). The program director is also a little quirky.
This program appears to be a hidden gem for those of us that want no-nonsense training and serious experience. While I'm thankful that I have a bunch of other interviews lined up, I am absolutely glad that I decided to interview at LSU-Shreveport and could definitely be happy training there.
Good luck everyone!
