Just noticing the number of lurkers we have...seems like the number grows everyday!

Out of 47 viewers, only 17 are registered members.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I would feel bad taking all the advice, updates, and insight this great forum had to offer without contributing anything. Even if it's just to add your interview or acceptance to the list.

It's as anonymous as you want it to be, so come on people, register and post! :hardy:

You can pick a nifty keen name and picture! 😀

Actually, sometimes it's us. If I go to check a thread and don't post anything, I don't have to log in, so I am just registered as a guest.
But you're right, some people just don't want to share their toys (i.e. info!)😍

I'm not a lurker, but I did just add an avatar 😎

Yay lurkers! Hi Mom! :hello: Don't feel bad, you can keep lurking. I don't think anyone will mind. 😀

I'm usually a lurker... This message board is great for procrastination and I usually don't log in........... i guess i should...

Lurkers turn into members just as browsers turn into buyers! It doesn't take long... 😉

This thread is proof that the waiting is killing us. we are looking at lurkers. Dear God is is the end of March yet??? 😀

I have been lurking for the past couple months because I was crazy superstitious about saying something wacky and hurting my chances. It makes no sense logically, but the admissions process can do amazing things to your mind! Now that I've been accepted, I can breathe and socialize again! By the way, this place is the awesome! It's great to know other people are in the same boat as me. 😍

Aw, some of us are so early on in the process that we don't feel like we have much to contribute.

When I first found this board I was like OH MY GOD IT'S MY PEOPLE I WANT TO ASK THEM EVERYTHING!!!11 ... but I resisted the urge to bombard you all with six thousand questions that'd already been asked, and instead have been reading obsessively, way back into the archives even.

For me personally, on any given forum, lurkers are far less bothersome than the people whose questions are always and only FAQs. Lurkers might not add anything to the signal-vs-noise ratio, but they're also not detracting either, you know? I believe that it not only builds character but also promotes a shiny coat to hang around a place and get a feel for things before diving in face first. Lurkers, you've got that hi-pro glow!

Only reason I did recently register was that I wanted to send someone a PM complimenting them on their crazy-adorable avatar. I guess it was a case of come for the smart, but stay for the cute?

And speaking of having little of substance to contribute... WhtsThFrequency, I've seen your sig around... it is from Pi? Love that movie!

Well, I'm a member and rarely ever post... Some kind of pseudo-lurker.

I can't wait until my interview is done so I can just relax and wait for my letter.

[...] so I can just relax and wait for my letter.

I wish I could do that heyday!?! any tips? I seem to be obsessing over the tiniest details while I wait .... no relaxing for me 🙁

I'm just so tired of all the stress and worry over getting in. Once I do my interview on Friday, all I can do is wait and pray.

Try to take your mind off things! It'll be fine! 😳

Man. I am in no way hip enough to be a film geek, but Aronofsky's work introduced me to SO much coolness, from the music of Massive Attack (best concert ever!) to the books of Hubert Selby Jr. He might even get a little credit for my marriage; on my second date with my husband we abandoned the party we were at to sit outside and talk about Pi (and god and aliens and whether it was possible that the two were one and the same).

Ha. I'm such a cautionary tale. There are totally worse things than lurkers... offtopic fangirl burbling about a ten-year-old movie, for example. I'm going back to being quiet now. But thanks, WhtsThFrequency, for the smile.

I finally realized that I had done the best I could in my interview - it's out of my hands now.... 😉

plus... having 4 exams this week has made me think about other things than getting my letter.... but all bets are off on Friday when my exams are over!! 😛

Speaking of avatars FeatheredFriend, yours is just adorable. Duckies!

Thanks! The ducks that I do research with tend to be a little less cute and a little more angry than this adorable guy. I'm going to VA-MD in the fall for the public/corporate track, so maybe I'll see you there!

Hey lurkers-

What a great day for SDN! Sign up and join the fun!🙂

MickeysPet-
I must say...your pic is just too funny! That crazy face just made me crack up....and I really needed a good laugh in the middle of all of this stressfulness! Thanks!

Thanks! I'm guessing the next week or so will be even more crazy. Welcome to SDN and good luck with Georgia!:luck:

I just joined the forum so I could reply to this thread 😛
I'm kind of afraid that now that I've joined I'll become even more addicted to it.

oh trust me...you will 😉

Now that you mention it, almost everyone on this forum has an avatar these days...

Which is good because as often happens when I read internet forums enough, I don't read people's names anymore and look at their avatars first. I guess I'm just drawn to pretty pictures... 😀

Just a heads up, on Forums like this the guests are often automated bots from places like Yahoo! and Google. They crawl pages to index them for search engines and the like. On another forum I read the bots are usually 75-90% of the guests listed online.

Aren't there wormers for that (Bots that is,)? sorry couldn't help just a little large animal humor.

Don't you have to switch up the wormer every once in a while so it keeps working? We just haven't been switching those.

Naw! Seriously, lurkers can keep on lurking. You'll cross over eventually.
It is in your destiny.
Muwahaha!
