I would rather go to a Dental school than going to a DO school. It's better to not to have a questionable background.
Besides, if you are good enough to get into top tier DO schools like MSU or PCOM, you can get into University of Pennsylvania Dental.

Since the general public is ignorant, going to penn dental may look better than going to a mid tier MD med school though you won't be able to brag in front of real doctors.

Dude I am Asian. Asian people who came to America not because they were hungry but because they pursued educational opportunities (in other words, parents are college educated at least) wouldn't respect DO doctors even though a lot of them don't even have half the brain to get into a DO school.

But they would bow down to ivy league dental schools cause it's ivy league. Some would be delusional to think that ivy dentals are harder than mid tier md schools.

Dude I'm Asian, I came from Asia...

If I didn't get into MD, I'd totally go DO. All your parents will tell people is "my son/daughter is a doctor"... who the hell cares about 2 letters?

If I don't get in this time, I will expand to some DO schools as well. I want to be a doctor, and will make the most of medical school. DO is fine for my goal.

So basically you're saying that your career and educational decisions are entirely based upon what other people think. That sounds like a miserable existence.

I think we can guess his primary motivation for pursuing medicine....

Well, hey. People have different priorities. I think if someone would regret being/feel inferior as a DO it's a good enough reason for them not to go to a DO school.

If this is a serious post, I feel bad for you.

There are many non-prestige/bragging reasons for choosing MD over DO regardless of the situation/background. A merger doesn't change these reasons and personal preferences as many will still stick with MD-only.

I know people will be upset but by referring to the medical student and resodency forums, it is evident that US MD carries a greater weight than US DO. Does that make DO physicians incompetent/inferior/bad/fake etc.? Definitely not. But that doesn't mean we should ignore the apparent differences and dismiss those wanting to go strictly MD-only

If I ever wanted to practice out of the country, say DWB or some similar organization. I am pretty sure that I couldn't do that as a DO as it is not recognized outside of the U.S. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends on the country. There are full practice rights in ~65 countries with restricted practice rights in a few more.
