I’m dropping my MSTP for the MD only, after realizing it’s not what I want. However, because I thought I had four years in the middle to get a PhD, I really didn’t get involved. I’ve done some inconsistent volunteer work here and there, but besides that I’ve just been developing a relationship with my boyfriend and enjoying my hobbies (movies, cooking for myself).

I am my mother’s caregiver (about 10 hours a week), and I have publications from before medical school. I’m not really considering derm or rads or surgery (but who knows… we start on the wards M2). Am I okay?

You're fine. Do what you enjoy. If you can do a little research on the side, that would be good. No one really cares about the preclinical ECs that much.
