Hello all,
Anyone with any info on or experiences with an abroad rotation in Gen Surg, please let me know.
Initially, I was pretty intent on going to a resource-limited country, ie developing country, as I thought it would be good experience both in working with the pt population, but also that I might see some hectic far-progressed diseases, & get a more broad experience w/o so much surgical specialization. I'm still leaning towards this, but if you guys know of any 1st world surgery rotations where you had or have heard it is a good experience from a hands-on or teaching perspective, please let me know about those as well.
Definitely doing any suturing, knot tying, bovieing, intubation, central line or arterial line placement, chest tube placement, & whatever little procedures I'm allowed is of high interest to me.
Look forward to hearing more.
