Hello everyone,

My fiance just got accepted to NYU's Mental Health masters program. I wanted to ask if there was some sort of advantage graduating from a name like that as opposed to the other CUNY names she applied to like Brooklyn's. Does NYU help in job assistance by connecting her to an almuni network for example? or is it really just money for a name and an over inflated education? Thank you your response is greatly appreciated.

I'm a Brooklyn grad, so I am biased, but I think the program is starting to build a name for itself, and also feel that it's grads end up in the same entry level jobs/opportunities as everyone else with an MHC degree in NY. It's a solid training, and I don't think she'd have any regrets going there rather than any other MHC programs. We had a student transfer into our program from one of the "big name" NYC schools after getting sick of the price tag. This student had no regrets about it.

Given what starting salaries are for a mental health counselor in NY, it's pretty hard for me to justify the price of a program like NYU. $80k in tuition for a $~40ishk salary?
