hello, i was pre-dent student, but now im kinda undecided.
im still debating myself if i want to go for dent or pod.
i never took mcat but i have taken dat before.
how hard is it to get mid 20's on mcat?
is mcat questions are similar to the questions on dat?

took both. questions on mcat are so not like those on dat (much more in depth). i applied to pod with the dat, went well.
my dat scores were: 19/21/25

For one thing, its MCAT not MACT. You sound like the official acceptance letter at NYCPM.

The MCAT is much different + harder than the DAT. Passage based vs stand alone questions MCAT offered about 20 somewhat times a year while DAT you can do almost anyday. If you are gonna take the DAT, you are limited to 3 out of 9 pod programs: Barry, Temple, NYCPM. Something to think about...

There are 4 that definitely take the DAT: AZPOD, Barry, NYCPM, & Temple. I spoke with the admission dept at DMU and they will consider DAT scores on a case by case bases...

Arizona is a case by case situation too I'm pretty sure. I cannot believe this stuff is not set in stone, at Azpod and DMU. CSPM in california and Scholl will not accept the DAT or GRE, and they make it very clear.

Your probably right about AZPOD being case by case since they don't list it on their website. I'm surprised as well that the schools aren't on the same page regarding entrance exams. I'm sure it will happen in the near future where the MCATs are the standard for all the schools.

I just got an email response from NYCPM and they will not take DAT from next cycle..

The person said NEXT cycle NYCPM won't take the DAT, meaning for people applying for the class of 2014.

People who are starting pod school this late summer/fall are doing so for the class of 2013 (and CAN take the dental test for NYCPM).

Take the MCAT. We are not going to Dental school.

4 schools interviewed me this cycle with DATs the usual barry, temple, and nycpm and also AZPOD.

👍 The MCAT is doable, study a little bit, give yourself the option of all the schools, and see what happens. The MCAT is mostly passage based, and tests how well you can analyze the information you already have learned. It's not that hard to get mid 20's on the MCAT, but it will require some studying beforehand.
