I was wondering if anyone can help me with a question from the dental Decks. On one of the Anatomic science card it has the following question:
In relationship to the occlusal plane of the mandibular molars, the mandibular foramen is located:

a. at or slightly below occlusal plane and posterier to the molars
b. at or slightly above the occlusal plane and posterier to the molars

The card said the answer is: a) at or slightly below occlusal plane and posterier to the molars
But when I was looking at the Atlas of Human Anatomy it looks like it is slightly above not below. Can anyone tell me if it is actualy above or below the occlusal plane.

Its Above The occlusial plan, i know this problemin the decks, Its above

the Answer To This Is Below The Occlusal Plane Of Mandibular Molars Assaid In The Decks ..

thanku for responding but the ans. given in decks is wrong

mandibular foramen is below the occlusal plane in children but in adults it is above the occlusal plane and post to molars

mandibular foramen is always above the occlusal plane..... its below in children... if u rem.... in monheims.... the book for LA.... for inferior alveolar block.. we pierce above the occlusal plane... just to reach the mandibular foramen

and if u rem shobha tandon for pedodontics.... a diagram is given for the shift of the placement of mandibular foramen with age

i hope u got the concept... the answer in decks is wrong.... i rem it....

best of luck....
