Anyone here have any experiences with Internal Medicine rotation in Madigan. I'll be starting my ADT rotation there in a week and would like to get some input. I just came from BOLC 2 weeks ago (I have a 3 year scholarship and deferred BOLC in 2nd year due to boards studying) and so I've been studying for step 2 this last 2 weeks and would be taking my step 2 after my first week in Madigan (unideal but I just have to suck it up). Does anyone know the usual hours for the rotation. I would like to still get some studying done on my first week of rotation.

Why don't you contact the IM dept or GME Coordinator (253-968-1511)? They should link you up with the chief resident who can fill you in on the details. Speaking from my experience at TAMC, WBAMC and WAMC you will preround around 5:30-6 (depending on pt load) and your afternoon release is dependant on the attending / resident. What you will be learning on the wards will be pretty high yield for step 2 though, so consider if mandatory studying since you should be reading about the pathology of your patients at night.

I did internal medicine inpatient at Madigan last year. The hours are 6 AM to 6PM reliably. There are 3 teams with a rotating call schedule. Somedays you may get done at 4 PM, somedays I was there until 8PM. Depends on patient load and staff. Good luck!
