For VR, have you ever had issues with determining whether a question is asking for the main idea or a main idea? Sometimes a question, without letting you know of course, requires you to find the general thesis in the passage and other times it requires you a specific thesis within the passage. For what kind of wording might we look for, in the question stems or wherever, in trying to determine the answers to questions like these? Any advice?

By the way, a specific question stem like this can be found in Test 5 of EK 101, which asks "which of the following assertions is most clearly a thesis presented by the author?" There were two answer choices which stood out: one was a thesis that was almost written verbatim in the passage and the other was a generalization of it. I thought, since they were looking for a thesis that I would pick the specific thesis. It turns out the generalization was the correct answer, even though the question stem asked for a thesis.
