Hi All,
I was just curious how it looks to have limited EC's during a gap year. I am in a really good job that helps to pay off debt, but it is graveyard shift. This has fundamentally hindered what I wanted to do EC wise due to having a flipped sleep schedule. Does this look bad to mainly work to pay off debt during gap year?
Here's my stats currently for reference:
Major: Physics
Amcas calculated cGPA (spreadsheet from SDN): 3.72
sGPA: 3.84
Upward trend (failed and withdrew from 3 classes 10 years ago)
MCAT: 514 (126 cars?)
My Current EC's/ experiences:
Full-time EMT: 1.5 years
ER volunteer: 300 hours
Paid Physics TA: 2 years
Participant and Treasurer of Unified Sports Club (facilitated sports with developmentally disabled students): 1.5 years
Family Practice Shadowing: 20 hours
Sunday School Volunteer: ~72 hours
Paid Physics Summer Research: 350 hours
Continued Un-Paid Thesis Research (continuation of summer research): ~130 hours
2 Conference Poster Presentations
1 Symposium Oral Presentation
1 Workshop Oral Presentation
1 Senior Thesis Presentation
Award for outstanding senior in physics
