If I’m accepted to dental school this December with a 3.9, will getting a substantially lower gpa (like a 3.3-3.5) have any factor on my acceptance? I know they say to maintain your gpa... but what does that mean exactly?
I keep wondering this same thing. I've got some pretty serious "senioritis" haha.

I would assume it means just don't slack off too hard. You definitely need to at least make sure your term and overall GPA is acceptable (though how do you define "acceptable"). Admissions is conditional, and they do require your final transcripts prior to matriculation.

There are people who get accepted December 1, and then end up failing an outstanding prerequisite course (usually physics, since that is what most pre dentals tend to put off until their last year) in the winter semester. That kind of thing can really get you in trouble. For schools like Michigan, where they start in June so you cannot retake the course during the first half of summer, you have no chance to make up for it. Otherwise, I don't think a few more B's than usual will be the deal breaker.

Most of the people in my class basically gave up after they got accepted lol they still passed all there classes but barely. One actually failed physics 2 in their last semester and just retook it over the summer before dental school started but I wouldn't recommend that.

You can get away with that if classes start in July or August. Some schools may be chill enough to say "just as long as you get it done". But for a school like Michigan where classes start in June, you would have no recourse.

Yeah definitely depends on the school. Most people around me were accepted to Midwestern which starts pretty late.

I’m definitely not gonna fail any classes, but I’m just not gonna stress for getting hhigh A’s on everything. I think if I do this it wouldn’t be a huge problem... I’ll still be graduating with distinctions and honors so I don’t think I can be knocked for that, right?

Make sure your actually accepted first lol I wouldn't relax much this semester but if your accepted December 1st then yeah I wouldn't care if I was getting Cs in my last semester.

Is there a concensus on whether schools care if we receive C's in non-prerequisite classes these next two semesters? I got that senioritis bug too lol

Made the mistake of doing the math to see what the lowest grades I'd need were and now the senioritis is hitting me hard.

I have an F in a class for the first time in college LOL. Just 3 assignments in thought, I'll get it turned around.......hopefully

Btw: I was a terrible student in high school, 2.7 gpa, took ACT 4 times...senior year my math professor called me an idiot and said I wouldn't be able to get an A in his class (i failed his previous class). I had an A all year. I had a 96 in the class 1.5 months before graduation. He was impressed, brought me a bar of twix...........2 days before graduation my grade was a 69% 🙂))) - I told this story at my last two interviews too lol
