Hi all!

I am now a freshman at a community college in CA, and my major is Economics. As I am transferring to a 4-year institution, I have a plan to take my science prerequisites after I transferred, will that be possible? Should I stay with econs or change my major to any science major and try to do my best in upper science classes after I transferred? I love science as much as I love econs, and I'm thinking undergraduate would probably be my last chance to study econs, as medicine takes a life-time devotion. Thanks 🙂

P.S : Pardon my english

Yes. But depending on how many free electives your major offers you, you may have to take some courses over summer or intersession or take course-heavy semesters if you want to get them all in before you graduate.

Do whatever you want to do. It doesn't really matter as long as you do well and get all of your pre-reqs in.

I am in med school now and my undergrad was economics. It is doable, although I did end up getting a masters in public health before I was accepted (probably due to my bad gpa not the economics).

If you love it, you will get in no problem as long as you do your premed classes and mcat as well. (and have the grades and scores to support it)

as the previous posts mentioned, you don't necessary have to switch majors 🙂 if you love econ stay as a econ major even when you transfer.

you will probably have more work to do (as stated already like taking classes over summer or taking more credits during the regular quarter/semester) in order to complete pre-reqs to be a medical school applicant but it is doable. in the end do well in your science classes and the medical college admission test 👍

good luck endot 😀
