I was wondering if anyone else was noticing that most of the people at their interviewers were guys so far. I was told by an adviser that more females apply than males. If this is true, then why are these early interview spots so male dominated? Maybe it has just been a fluke. For example, I have had one interview where the balance was 3:1 male to female.

I had an interview earlier where all ~10 interviewees for the day were guys. It can't be random; what are the odds? 1/2^10?

I've been to four interviews so far, and they seemed to all be pretty even as far as male to female ratio goes. I guess I haven't interviewed at the sexist schools yet. =P

At my michigan interview there were a fair share of guys and girls.

After counting the names in the little facebook they gave us, looks like there were more girls interviewing that day than males.

I don't think there's any pattern in terms of sex, so you may have just been lucky and had a largely male dominated interviewee experience.

When I think about it however, it seems as if the most pro-active and driven premeds are females, so I would think the exact opposite is true.

only harvard was female dominated (6 girls, 1 guy).. the other were very heavily male dominated

my 9/15 int was 10M 3F. . . thought it was strange for sure

Interesting. Wasn't it Larry Summers, the previous Harvard president, who said that women lacked the science and math capacity of men. Perhaps Harvard med school is doing a make up call and overcompensating.

I dont know, i been to 4 and they seen to be even.

maybe guys are just more intelligent, accomplished, determined, and articulate?

oh no .... just look at miss palin, she's everything a man could ask for plus more.

at my two interviews the majority, approx 70 percent, were males, specifically white males. It's amazing cause these schools had more females matriculate as well. There are probably tons of hypothesis for this, but is it true that males are interviewing earlier than females?
