Hey guys,

Rather than buying Pharm flash cards, I think I'm going to make some of my own based on the info in FA. I have two questions - 1) What is the highest yield info to learn about drugs (ie Indications, MOA, etc). 2) If I only try to learn indications, MOA, and side effects, is that enough to do well on Pharm in Step I?

Thanks!

w/out going into details.

there are some classical contraindications, drug drug interactions, drugs that up or down rate of CytoP450, adverse effects.
The classic ones plus MOA and indications should get you most the points.

Someone told me abt online flashcards at www.flashcardexchange.com. It's a flashcard sharing website where ppl have made flashcards just based on FA, or other books, or whatever source you could probably think of. I was thinking abt making my own, but this saved me a lot of time. Hope that helps!

Frankly i dont trust other people's flashcards so i like to make my own. That's what I did for step 1.

The "musts" include are MOA and SE. Some contraindications are also "musts." They are found in FA as are some of the drug-drug interactions. There is a list of drugs that increase and a list of drugs that decrease the cyP450 system that you should know.

There is a good page in FA with the SE. I used that as a base and then as I went through added some other drugs with impt side effects that were listed elsewhere in FA. For the most part though, that page is a good source.

Really you dont need to much more than FA. There are times when you may need a reference for when you dont understand what FA is saying.
