Well, to make the most of your summer you should do great lab work and publish 1st author in cell and science (ideally working in 2 labs to do clinical and bench-top science). This might also set you up for a nobel which could give you a little boost when residency matching. As well, if you could pass health-care reform that would be great....
In all seriousness, that sounds like a very good summer already and I would just focus on doing good work and taking pride in the research that you do. If you are a dedicated to the lab and make the effort, it will be noticed.
