Hey there. I am a recent grad who is doing a little locums work before taking the plunge into a permanent position. I have been working with agencies that cover my malpractice but now I am entertaining doing some locums work with a contact from my residency program. I want to cut out the agency who are making money off me every day. So.... I need to get malpractice insurance. Anyone out there have their own (being an independent contractor) and can give me some leads/contacts. I suppose I need occurance based malpractice if I only plan on using it for a couple months??? please advise...

The locums agency should provide you with the insurance. Ask them. Otherwise the insurance companies are geographically focused. I know the NW ones - send me a pm and maybe I can tell u more.
