In Pennsylvania, I've heard that medical doctors (MD's) are leaving the state because the malpractice insurance is too high. Is malpractice insurance in optometry high also or is that mainly MD's and DO's?

From what I've heard most OD's pay only about $400/year for adequate insurance.. so basically its not an issue at all.

While it varies. For the last 5 years or so I've paid $800/year for a 2 million per occurance policy. That is standard in our state. There are only a few companies that write OD insurance. I presume that my rate is pretty consistent with others.
