I have a question:

How much does malpractice insurance cost, or where can I look up a general index of insurance?

The doctors I work for pay $22K a year, and I think that's on the low end. 😱

This varies widely according to specialty and state. CA has caps on premiums; NY and FL are highly litigious states with high malp premiums. FP and psych don't have very high malp; neurosurg and OB have very high malp. Sorry, can't think of an index right now, but I'm sure you could google something.

I've googled a couple of times myself -- was trying to get a better of idea what the rates are according to specialty. The best I could ever find were maps of the states that are in critical or near critical levels of physician shortage due to malpractice insurance. Somebody please post if you find somethin better
