What is a good way to find out what the malpractice rates are in specific areas of the country (i.e. websites/other resources)?

Also, a resource that relates to other legal issues that are pertinent to OB-GYN (e.g. this "three-strike" rule that I've heard about) would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Problematic areas include mainly Eastern seaboard (FL, PA, NY, NJ, Maryland) and now Nevada. Things far better in CA, CO, and others.

BTW- as a student or resident even a $40k annual premium appears to be horrible.

But that is a mere cost of doing business. This overhead is written off on taxes as such and will usually be paid by your employer. If self employed, it is only $3500 a month- on par with your office rent. You can handle that if you love what you do and the practice is doing OK.

$10k a month is another thing entirely.
