I am thinking of applying to Pharmacy school in 2005 and was reading up on the profession. The Manpower Study states that retail employment will shrink significantly over the years. However, they project increased opportunities to fill unmet need in clinical and patient counseling.
Do you folks see such a change happening/beginning to happen? Or, is it just a desirable future direction for the profession. Where are all these new positions going to be created? Who will pay for these? Normally, the insurers are willing to pay for the services of health care professionals if they are chaper. However, as Pharmacists are more expensive, would reimbursements cover the new Pharmacist services?
Can someone "interpret" the study for me?
Thanks!
