Marijuana and Getting Accepted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just be as smart as possible: If this is not in your record, do not mention it at all. If this will be in your record, mention it. Now what are you to do to find out? Call the office of your school and tell them you're an employer looking to hire you for an internship. Say that you listed that you had no record and you want to confirm that before they give you the position. If the school says there's no record of anything, you're in the clear. Simple as that.

I don't ever post on SDN, I just do a bunch of reading for personal information. However, this was the most enjoyable thread I've come across. Kudos to you all! 👍

Also, lovin' this thread...
best advice is to see what shows on your transcript (which was stated) (get it sent, a newer copy, to YOU first, before AMCAS)

-if you don't smoke everyday, you're not a pothead, and there are doubtful any effects to your health. You start to hit that limit, imo, maybe at the 1-2 times a week level. (because of constant THC supply to brain). Just like anything else thats a drug, its putting a chemical in the most IMPORTANT part of your body that just shouldn't be there naturally. And thats enough for me to not want it. Go skydiving if you need a stimulant and go sit alone in your room if you need a depressant lol.

Also, just from personal experience, I notice a high correlation (but not necessarily causation of course lol) with my friends who smoke almost daily (and i have quite a few) and those friends being significantly less intelligent and, most of all, less ambitious... they literally want to sit-in and "chill" (which is fine, except when you do that ALL DAY EVERYDAY) (again, I'll admit, there are some smart ones in the bunch, but they still lack ambition)

some of you guys/gals are way too lame. if someone chooses to smoke marijuana DOES NOT mean they abuse it and it DOES NOT mean they are drug seeking criminals. just because you were a nerd your whole life and listened to mommy and daddy your whole life and were influenced by the "War on Drugs" (the most expensive and worthless war this country was ever a part of) doesn't mean you are in a position to judge others.

as far as i am concerned you guys are just as lame as all those clowns that said "alcohol is so bad - you guys are criminals - stop it im scared" during the prohibition. would you guys say that about alcohol now? no - because its part of the society you live in. Develop your own opinions and don't be so lame. for real.

marijuana is not that bad. stop being such impressionable naive young kids - grow up! and for all you idiots that are going to come back with "there are articles out there that say weed is bad" .. know this .. there are just as many articles that say there's no effect. and the ones that do conclude marijuana has an effect on an individual are usually sampling populations that are chronic users. too much of anything is bad? we all know drunks are bad - does that mean anyone who drinks a little alcohol is going to turn out like a drunk?

Here Here! haha it's so comforting for me to know that at least a few of my future colleagues / peers will be able to think for themselves and have an open minded attitude toward these kinds of issues. the last thing the medical community needs are more doctors who are unable to formulate new ideas / opinions and instead simply regurgitate the things that school, society, and conservative parents have innoculated in them. nicely put 😀

Even though pot is not my thing, I wouldn't care even if you lit up every single day as long as you did your work well. I knew some talented guys back in college that smoked every day and ended up with a 3.9+ GPA. Heck, even Carl Sagan lit up once in awhile.
