Hello all! I am applying this coming May and want to know my chances at an MD acceptance. Here are my estimated stats and ECs.
MCAT: 514 (126/126/131/131) [I retook a 513 (130/126/130/127)]
GPA: 3.97
State of Residence: TX
Ethnicity: ORM (Asian Male)
Undergraduate Institution or Category: Upper mid-tier public research university
Clinical Experience: 1,100 hours as a PCT, 150 hours as a home health aide, 50 hours as a hospital volunteer
Research Experience and Productivity: 500 hours in a lab with one first author review paper in a high impact journal, 1 poster presentation, 1 co-author for a book, and one honors thesis project. Around 100 hours working with medical students to write 2 systematic reviews.
Shadowing Experience: 100+ hours in a wide variety of specialties (orthopedics, pediatrics ICU, urology, anesthesia, etc.)
Non-clinical Volunteering: 500-600 hours (400-500 hours being at a food bank, 100 hours being at a animal rehab center)
Other ECs: Soccer Referee (550 hours), chem peer leading (70 hours), helped around briefly on the business aspect at my home health aide job, and volunteer captain at the food bank.
I am open to any suggestions possible, including where y'all think I should apply or what I could change to make me a stronger applicant. Thanks!
