Marquette

Man, you are so lucky.

I know that seems like a lot to be waitlisted, but that is what the secretary told me. Some confirmation on this would be great!

I'm currently a D2 student at Marquette. Two years ago on Dec. 1, my file was put on hold (what they do with those not accepted in the first round), In Jan., I was officially waitlisted, got accepted in mid-April, and am currently halfway through second year. So there is some hope for you all who didn't get in today. Best of luck!

Are you in-state or out-of state?

I was in state, Marquette takes exactly 40 in state and 40 out of state (Wisconsin supplements in state tuition), so I imagine they have 2 separate lists, and the out of state waitlist would be longer because a lower percentage of out of state students accept.

Thanks for the hope, I love the school and want to go there.

So, does anyone know if you didnt get accepted today and you interviewed if that means you are waitlisted? or did they reject some people that interviewed?

that would be a lot of people on a waiting list!

~230!

Anyone have any info?

I am in-state as well and that's why I am so concerned. I don't think that many WI residents chose other schools over MUSoD. Do you know how many extra offers were made the year you got in? It's my choice #1 school, and I am so worried!!! Thanks for your reply.

well i just checked aadsas, and it says applicaiton denied for marquette. it was updated today too. oh well. 🙁

There probably won't be a lot of movement on the in state waitlist, of the 40 spots about 10 are already allocated for Marquette's predental scholar program and others go to students in the HCOP program (aimed at URMs). The year I got off the waiting list I think the instate list moved about 10 spots. I don't think they will formally rank the list until mid January and they have a better idea of how many students accept offers. I had to place 750 dollars to reserve a spot on the list (they return the money if you don't matriculate).

I wonder how many out of state seats will open up by january 15...

I think they only interviewed 100 in-state and 200 out of state...

I called @ 10am & found out I was accepted...🙂 🙂 🙂
So much for the e-mail at the stroke of midnight
anybody get an e-mail?

No email here. They did interview 200 out of state applicants. I was just wondering about how many spots will be open for the alternate list come january

I guess it depends on how many others select schools other than MU...
plus, if out of staters opt for other schools I would think MU would give more consideration to WI resdents.

Nope, state of WI subsidizes exacly 40 seats for WI- residents not 1 more or less. Last year they sent out about 26 additional offers for out-of-staters though.

thanks for that info

Who will not pick Marquette?

Like, if you are accepted to more thatn one school, how many of you have
another 1st choice?😎

chirp, chirp... no takers?
I am hoping there are not 230 of us trying for ~30 spots. Good luck guys! Maybe the new year will bring much better news! 🙄

I have family that went to Marquette dental, I like the cold, I like beer and cheese WI and Marquette is where I want to be.....

230 spots - there are people on the waitlist who got accepted elsewhere. Although Marquette is my first choice I would give anything just to know where I am going to be. I was looking on predents and of the 11 people on the waitlst for marquette 10 have acceptances. So maybe there is only like 100 of us for those 30 spots.... I am still under review but am still quite optimistic...

Ok, well I am waitlisted at Marquette and they told me I will know a final decision by Jan. 15. Are some people on a "hold?" Because Im not on hold im waitlisted. Is there a difference?

I got a letter today and they told me that my application was on a "hold" status and that they would let me know January 15 after they reviewed my application again.

So are there people on a hold status and a waitlist status? Also, did some people who were interviewed get declined?

I was told by the secretary that everyone that interviewed who did not get accepted was waitlisted. I only say I am waitlisted because that is what aadsas says. I havent recieved my letter yet so maybe I am on a hold also.

If you interviewed and haven't been accepted then you are on the waitlist. If you haven't interviewed and haven't been rejected then you are on HOLD. I fall in the latter group.

pmantz should get accepted just for his avatar! Genius!

my boyfriend won't because i didn't get in 🙁 there ya go...one more spot!

Marquette is a close second to my number one, really only because my number one is local. I am currently on the waitlist, if i were to get accepted i would seriously consider attending.

When I called on friday the secretary told me I was still under review, the AADSAS says I am waitlisted, I got a letter yesterday saying I was on ""hold""
and "very much alive in the applicant pool". They need to syncronize there terminology because it is causing some confusion, better yet cut to the chase and accept me.

I got " Hold" letter from Marquette. What does it mean? Am I still qualifitied to be interviewed or is it sort of waiting list?

It means you have to wait, till january 15ish and find out.

Yeah, I still haven't gotten anything in the mail from them, or an email, or anything... I try to call and get the answering machine everytime. Last year I got the letter on Dec first saying I was still in the applicant pool, and later in March they called and told me I made the alternate list... never got a spot though.. This year interviewed again in October and have not heard anything yet. Sounds like I might be getting a call or letter by January 15 (hopefully)

Somewhat unrelated Marquette question:

Marquette received my application late October, and this showed up on AADSAS mid November .
"Applicant's file has received an initial review from the Admissions Committee, but a final decision has not yet been made. The file remains active in our applicant pool. The Admissions Committee may choose to interview additional candidates at a later date. Final decisions will be rendered at subsequent meetings of the Admissions Committee."

I received one letter that said my file is complete.

And then just THIS WEEK I received a letter with a supplemental. However the supplemental seems like its only for scholarship consideration. The directions even say to mail it to the Dental Scholarship Committee. Now I'm probably not going to get the scholarship and currently have many finals to study for so I'd rather not spend the time to write the essay. And if someone can confirm to me that this supplemental really is only for scholarship consideration, since by all other signs, my application was complete weeks ago, I would really appreciate it.

Will I be at an ADMISSIONS (not scholarship) disadvantage if I don't fill this out?

Thanks

yeah it's required for admission; i know, i know, supplementals blow
