Does anyone know anything about the Masters International Program? I am thinking about it, specifically with Tulane

Hi there,

Did you decide? I've been accepted to both Loma Linda University and Tulane's MI/MPH Program for concentration in Maternal/Child Health... I'm on the edge too.. did you get any input about Tulane??

Thanks!

I'm thinking about applying to MI/MPH programs as well. Are MI/MPH programs binding can switch you into the regular MPH program if you decide not to join the peace corps? I want to do the peace corps, but it is hard to see where life is going to take me in the next year or two, and don't want to lock myself into something just yet. I feel it is probably better to apply MI/MPH and then drop down rather than closing that door all together if that is possible.

isn't the point of applying to the MI/MPH program to show your commitment to public health/global health?

but curiously, what does happen?

Obviously, if you're unsure about committing to a full two years to the MPH and then another two to the Peace Corps section, you shouldn't apply to the MI/MPH programs. Just apply to the MPH programs and then if you're up for it, apply to the Peace Corps later.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone can lend me some information about MI/MPH programs, the programs looks amazing, and I want to go into the peace corp and after I wish to apply to medical school. I was wondering is anyone has any suggestions/ or if anyone has done this before? Any information would be much appreciated. Would this be too much time away between undergrad and med school or would doing the MI/MPH program strengthen the application? Thanks!

Tulane's MI program is flexible, and I believe it's the largest program. I was originally in the MPH/MI program (I start this Fall), but let them know this week that I've decided to do just the MPH. The office didn't have a problem with it--there is just some paperwork to be reissued, and said that I could always choose to rejoin the program again. Hope this helps!

Well, maybe not just PC specifically, but you can learn a lot of great things by doing PC. Plus you have a HUGE network to utilize as RPCVs are everywhere in every part of the work force.

That's certainly interesting –*the Peace Corps sounds like a good non-military public health service option. I wonder how it compares to USPHS...
