Hi All,

I am considering three Master's programs to strengthen my application for MD/DO and DDS as well. They are: Barry University (Research, Thesis option), Midwestern University IL, and Midwestern University AZ. I have been told all three Master's of Science programs have a great reputation, and are really challenging. I am interested in these three programs because they offer a research, with thesis option as it will improve my credentials.

Which would be the best out of the three that medical schools (Both MD/DO) and dental schools will look to and say okay, lets give this guy a chance? If you attend any of these schools, can you give your thoughts (Pros/Cons)?

Thank You

UMDNJ - Newark is also a popular one for pre-dents, as it allows you to take class with the dental students

Thanks for the informative about UMDNJ, but my GPA is a 2.94 and they require a minimum of 3.00. I chose those programs because they require a 2.75 GPA. I am also considering Nova Southwestern (min 2.5 GPA).

If someone can please give the the "ticks" of these schools, the way the grade (curve, straight? not sure what they call it 😉 ).

The way I see it, if I pull off a 3.67 GPA (A- average) in these masters programs, I can pull off a 3.35 overall GPA and science GPA. With those stats, I plan to apply to my state schools (Michigan State Osteopathic, Michigan State Allopathic, Oakland University William Beaumont, Wayne State Med, and Detroit Mercy Dental) I also plan to apply to a few out-of-state friendly MD,DO, and Dental schools.

But I realize and fully accept that the most likely professional school I will attend will be where I attend my masters. Both Nova and Midwestern have osteopathic and dental schools, and Barry, if I'm not mistaking, has an arrangement with Nova's Dental program where you will be interviewed if you have at least a 3.5 masters GPA.

With those four programs in mind, I want the one that will give me the best opportunity to get a good grade (with hard work on my part of course) and the best opportunity to succeed in medical/dental school down the line.

Again, I will take any advise or suggestion.

Thank you

I know you're more looking for information about the other three programs (hopefully someone chimes in about them; you will definitely get more information if you post on this board: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=71), but I just wanted to throw out there that I was accepted into UMDNJ SMP with what was a 2.7 at the time. I personally contacted admissions before applying showing them an upward trend and that I had a plan and they took me.

As for SMP's that med schools give most respect to, the top of the line ones are BU MAMS, Georgetown SMP, and Tufts I believe
