Anybody know if anybody's matched into an advanced gas program but not matched into a prelim year in the past? How easy is it to scramble into a prelim year?

depends on what you're looking for. prelim surgery? no problem. but be warned, dont do it unless you check out the program first. better pick a cozy little community based program where they wont slaughter you.
i have several friends that matched in gas and not internship and many have gone this route. have an idea about what city you want to live in. then look at the prelim spots at the programs in that area. look specifically at what spots went unmatched the years before because chances are better that they will be open again. keep an eye on them during the unmatch.
