Match lists for DO schools that you interviewed at?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Were any of you given match lists for the schools that you interviewed at? If so, would it be possible to post, scan, or send me a private message? There is very little information about how osteopathic students perform in the match and I'd like to gather that information. I would encourage you to push your future school to post their match lists on their website. I will begin by posting the links for the schools that I am aware of. Thanks! :)

ER,

Here are the match results for the class of 2001 from KCOM (at least as current as I was sent). Would you mind posting the results from the other schools or showing where to get them? Also, please realize that all of the graduates didn't respond to the question of where they were going (approx 20 didn't reply).

Thanks,

Sweaty

ER,

My response was ugly in its format, however the info is there. Couldn't figure out how to make the form look better.

Any specific questions let me know.

Paul,

Thanks for posting some of KCOM's results. I am impressed by the number of matches you have in Orthopedic Surgery, ENT, and Radiology. Is there a reason that the administration does not post the results online? I only have the match lists for the three schools listed above. You can get to the match lists by clicking on the school's name. I have no idea where to get the rest of the schools and I've tried looking too. By creating this thread, I was hoping that we could gather the results from different DO schools.

Does anyone have a match list for Pikeville? I would very interested given that last year was their first graduating class.

What about match lists for any other DO schools? More specifically, I'd like to know about DMU, UHS, PCOM, and CCOM. I've searched the internet through and through and have found nothing. Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks

Atlas & Bama,

This is the reason I created the thread. If you interview at these schools or know anyone else who does, please post the match results. Some of the schools should give you a copy of the list when you interview. Thanks.

ER,

I don't have a good explanation for why the results aren't available online. I'll ask the admissions staff and development office.

Sweaty

FYI....DMU mentioned to my group after we interviewed that they don't keep a record of where grads match- i have heard this from various other groups that interviewed as well.

I've seen the KCOM match list on the KCOM students web page. I haven't seen much out of any other DO schools. It's upsetting. I really want to see some results! I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way either. I think it's an important, decision-making aspect of applying to medical school. If two schools are neck-and-neck on your list and you're having a hard time deciding, you should be able to look at match lists in order to help you decide. It seems logical to me!

DMU does NOT keep the results of the students who match into allopathic residencies (with or without having done a DO internship year). Also, DMU only keeps a hard copy of the match results into DO internship year programs, but no further... so, it still doesn't tell you what residencies our grads are getting. Of course, if you ask to see the hard copy of the internship year match, they'll tell you its not available at the moment... every time you ask for it.
Frustrating??? You bet!!!

Atlas,

Can you post the link to KCOM's match list?

Thank you.

Just a little info as to why AZCOM has its match results on line. The website is NOT sponsored by the school, but by our student government. Since we receive the current match results from the school, we place it on our website to inform current and prospective students. When I interviewed, (UMDNJ, NYCOM, COMP,etc.) the interviewers would only mention (in general) where their graduates matched, no lists were handed out.

I can't access KCOMs student website for some reason. Here's the link though. http://kcomstudents.org

Thanks for that JP. Weird, only 3 general surgeries.

That list from JPHazelton looks pretty much like a list that was given to COMP applicants during interview day. It gives a very general idea of the distribution.. that's about it!

Sweaty Paul, I thank you for your post, but you really shouldn't post names on a message board like that, but rather email it to those who want it.

Many schools (MD&DO) publish match lists with names. In fact, many residencies will also publish your name and picture on their website as being part of their residency program.

JPHazelton, do you have the names of the hospitals they matched into. I would be interested in where they matched in fields such as Ophtho, Radiology, EM, and Urology. Thank you.

Does anyone know the match rate for Nova Southeastern? I've been trying to find out. I am especially interested in primary care and psychiatry.

If you're interested in primary or psychiatry I wouldn't worry too much...as long as you pass through school and the boards, you should be able to match pretty much anywhere in either of those specialities IMO

ER

No, I don't have the list of hospitals.

What I posted was exactly what was given to me.

There was another page that listed who did Osteopathic internships and who went right into residency...but that was for another year. The breakdown was 50/50 (internship:residecny).

If anyone has numbers on PCOM (or any other schools) I would be interested in seeing them.

Thanks!

Ligand,

Sorry for posting the names. I am not all that computer literate and the names were sent in a word format to all KCOM students, subsequently, I believed them to be non-proprietory. If I made a mistake by posting them I apologize to each person on the list, certainly, no harm was meant.

Sweaty Paul

I interviewed at CCOM and they provide a list in their interview packet - try calling their admissions office and see if they can sent it to you - I don't have a scanner or else I would scan it in and email it to you - sorry -

ER,
If your asking about hospital names for the matched NYCOMers they did give that out at the interview. They gave out tons of info... match lists for 2000 and 2001, including hospitals (great one's too) and whether they were allopathic or osteopathic. I don't have a scanner either so I can't post it. They are soooo long that it would take me hours to type it all out. If you have any specific questions just e-mail me and I'll let you know. You can also try calling them to see if they will send you a copy. Good Luck!

Jill & Smileyfree,

Could you post the matches into competitive allopathic residencies (i.e. ENT, Urology, Rads, Derm, EM, Ophtho, and so forth)? Thanks.

They didn't give that to me at the interview.

I went there Nov 14th.

i'm just browsing on this forum after searching for match list. i'm not really familiar w/ the residency process for DOs, but why do some residency match list post earlier have MDs, others have DOs, and a few have MD/DO next to the programs? So does a DO who enters an MD residency become a DO/MD after they're done? just curious....

HI. I have a basic Q. Why is there a trend in the residency matches for people to go to allopathic residencies versus osteopathic ones if they specialize?? Do people view allopathic residency programs as more prestiguos and therefore want to go there or are they actually better?? I am interested in Peds, and an osteopathic residency and I never knew that was the trend. Thanks for any replies.

Though I couldn't find my list of the UHS match last year, I can tell you my class matched in a very similar way to the KCOM match previously listed.
From Case Western, UCLA, Indiana U., U of Ill, Wash U, to Botsford and Doctors (OH).
I was very impressed with my fellow classmates.

And no, if you attend an MD residency (such as myself), you do not get a DO/MD after your name...I believe the poster simply meant it was a dually accredited program.
