i know that med schools publish match list that shows where each student matched to, but I was wondering if there is info about what number of students in that med school applied to a certain speciality and got accepted?

I talked to one school who said that they published that info in their site but i cant find it.

You're unlikely to find something that granular that is public. There's overall matches for DO applicants to a particular specialty in the AAMC data.

Let’s say a med school of 200 students has an acceptance rate of 99.5%

This means everyone matched except one person

Doesn’t that mean that if 13 ppl matched to anesthesiology, chances are the match rate for anesthesiology for that school is a 100%? Or is there a level of complexity that I am not taking into consideration

Many people apply to multiple specialties so "100% anesthesiology" may have 5 people who applied to ENT, plastics, etc that didn't match to their preferred specialty but their backup. A lot of schools also don't require you to be listed on the match list, i.e. the public list may be missing several or many matches.

There is no common repository for this, and anything this granular may I repeat maybe on a School's website.

I suggest that you first get into a medical school before you start worrying about matches.

Matching is 100% on the student, and well you may see 13 students go into anesthesia one year the next year zero might go into anesthesia.

These are more likely due to personal choices of the students, rather than them not getting it to Anesthesia because they were aiming too high or they had red flags.

I think that's a complex question that requires some application interface that keeps up with these decisions with Match and SOAP. If such data exist, the student deans may hold onto it for their assessments, but not every position is the same.

Looking at you, Thalamus.

Otherwise the schools publish the list according to the consent of their students.

Most established DO schools have regional reputations with residency programs. It's not where you go to school, but how well your application measures up with other candidates to the program. So making your app competitive for that program with respect to research, LOR's, board scores and class rank, is 100% up to you.

This is why you have to target those 16ish DO schools that take Canadians.

Right now, you should be thinking about getting into medical school.

Thinking about residencies and specialties at this point is a fool's errand.

are you able to practice in Canada after completing DO in the US and do you have to write exams in Canada to do so?
