Yeah so I am a MSIII at a not so hot US institution.. So far honored my IM rotation, crushed the shelf and am about to finish my 2nd rotation. I have no research/case reports (yet) but even if I complete them not sure they can get pub'd by app time. I have no home program. Plans are to do aways as soon as my 3rd year ends (july) take step 2 early to make up for lack of research possibly and apply everywhere. Any tips or success stories in similar situations would be great. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

If you will be graduating from a US school, even if it isn't highly ranked, I would think you're going to be pretty set with how good the rest of ur app is coming together. is it an MD or DO school?

Yeah so I am a MSIII at an ehhhh not so hot US institution. I transferred from the Caribb with a 4.0 and 255 step 1. I'm not even so sure a 255 would require your taking Step 2...plus the fact you're working on publications, you can list them on the application as "manuscript in preparation" (or any other way like that). I think you will do fine, just get some strong LOR...especially at a place with good Ophtho names

I am at an MD school now. Thank so much for the replies. It really is appreciated. I will just continue to try to excel and what not. Any other advice would be much appreciated. You all are very helpful and especially for someone who stresses out a bit it is comforting to hear encouragement from peers who are not your fam and friends.

Cheers
