Matching into Desirable Location Cali

Genuine curiosity...why does it annoy Californians so much that people call it "Cali?" I've heard the same thing about calling Los Angeles "LA." Isn't California known for its affinity for abbreviation slang?
I have never ever heard anyone object to LA and I interact with former or current Angelenos regularly.

What would it take to match into a desirable location in California from someone that has no ties to the state, area going to a mid tier state school in the midwest? What would my app have to look like for say something like IM?

Definitely look into reading the short ebook by Adrian Aaron on Amazon, written by someone who applied to only one calif residency and got in.

Dont go to Loma Linda unless your comfortable with their mandates on lifestyle (i.e no alcohol, no coffee, no soda, no athiests)
You can have coffee and soda--there is no such rule barring its consumption. There might not be a coffee shop on campus(no idea if true) but you can bring coffee, soda, whatever energy drink to class and as for the no atheist part-- if being surrounded by christians makes someone feel uncomfortable that's on you. No one is stopping you or pulling you over asking to see your Christian papers haha

Yeah it doesn't annoy me either it just sounds very touristy or unsophisticated.

In reference to the user above who thought California was known for its abbreviated slang I have to admit I've never heard of that. It's definitely true of Australia and while California is known for it's slang, I can't say that I never noticed or heard that it's particularly abbreviated.

Bro, legit, totes, probs, and a host of others come to mind as words I hear *at a higher frequency from people I've been around that are from CA. Keep in mind this was in college, so maybe it is more-so that age group. But the ones I knew from CA said legit and 'bruh' (bro) every other word (I certainly didn't mean to the extent of Australia...they are just ridiculous with it)

maybe that guy was just being a d-bag then lol
