You get up to 6 weeks and it does count toward your payback.
It's important you understand the implications if you are in a training program. Due to accreditation standards, you are required to spend a certain amount of time in a residency program. If you take maternity leave and you cannnot make up the time satisfactorily during the usual time frame of the program and have to be extended in the program, you will add time to your commitment. I think this is a DOD policy, but may be for AF only.
If you extend 1 day - 6 months past your expected graduation date, you will automatically acquire an additional 6 months commitment. If you extend 6 months-1 year past your expected graduation date, you will automatically acquire an additional year of commitment.
This can sometimes be avoided in programs by taking less than 6 weeks and working over the holidays to make up the time you miss.
