My saving grace with my GPA and BCPM GPA has been due to my math grades. Math is literally carrying my GPA.

How will medical schools see this if I have A's and A-'s in math courses but a ton of B's in the pre-med requirements (not Physics and Calc) as well as a few other science courses?

I have also obtained a B+ and A- on upper level Neuroscience courses. I still have a semester left of transcript before I submit the AMCAS where I'll be taking Math and upper level Molecular Biology courses where I believe I can pull off A's and A-'s.

More details:
Bio1 and 2: B/B-
Chem1 and 2: B/A-
Orgo1 and 2: C+/B+

Molecular Biology: B
Behavioral Neurobiology: B+
Cell Biology of the Neuron: A-

Calc1 and 2: A/A
Physics1 and 2: A+/A
Multivariable: A
Linear Algebra: A-
Discrete mathematics: A-

GPA: 3.40
BCPM: 3.43

I'd imagine it wouldn't be too favorable or unfavorable. I think if your BCPM GPA was more balanced it would be better, but I wouldn't consider yourself out. Either way, your BCPM shows work ethic.

Thanks. I just thought that because it wasn't science heavy (since math is kinda unrelated) that adcoms would think that my BCPM is skewed a bit

You are a freak of nature. And I mean that in the best possible sense.

Math classes are notoriously deflated and I think this will reflect positively on the overall application. If anything, you will definitely stand out in a crowd of Bio majors!

Very, very impressive grades. Shoot.

+1
Good work op I had similar stats after sophomore year with around 40% of my bcpm work being in mathematics. I ended up minoring in math so I could continue to take courses because 1) I liked the material and 2)it helped raise by bcpm gpa
Hope this helps

It definitely makes your application look different, but don't expect your math classes to make up any deflation in your GPA. You should still work on improving it to 3.5+, ideally 3.6+.

But yes, kudos on doing so well in mathematics, the dread of most pre-meds.

Math requires a different kind of thinking than biology. While I can't make an informed statement on how this will be looked at I'd advise you to get your act together when taking memorization or pathway reliant courses. I'm an engineer, and while my classmates are taken aback by my difficult course of study, everyone cautions me that my reasoning skills from engineering will be all but useless in the drinking-from-a-firehose style that is Ms1 and Ms2.

This OP. This is very impressive.

I think that there are occasions where the admissions board will look specifically at the pre-req grades (especially for borderline GPAs like this). I don't think it will look too great but if you have a good MCAT I think that the ADCOM may overlook the subpar pre-req grades.

Was that calculus-based physics? If so, very nice. How is it that you did well in the calc-series, diff-eq, and dicrete math yet you did worse in (arguably) much easier classes? 😕

Thanks for the opinions everyone.

It wasn't Calculus based Physics but due to some reason I couldn't take the calc-based one. I haven't taken differential equations but I did we'll because it was later in my academic record. Family problems during my 1st and 2nd year at school was the main reason I did poorly. Also math just comes easier

Oops, meant Lin Alg instead of diff Eq I guess. Well you can definitely explain that a bit on your apps. Good luck
