curl up into a fetal position and tell the voices to stop. Seriously, does anyone actually care what the integral of the derivative of the sqaure of the cosine of the square of x times the cube of the sine of the square root of 3x in terms of x actually is?!?! I certainly don't! I'm aiming for a C in this calc II course I'm taking now, though I'll really just be happy if I make it through alive. Anyone else have an utter disdain for all things mathematics?

Actually, I love math, and it kills me that its not included in the BCP for DO schools like it is in MD schools.

The importance of calculus isnt so much the values, rather, its your ability to problem solve.

Adrian

It's cos(x^2)sin^3((3x)^.5)
But who's counting?
😉

I remember calculus I was just a review from high school. I didn't have to do much studying, and I had seen everything in the course before (except towards the end with the Riemann sum stuff). However, when I started calculus II in the second semester of my first year I had a heart attack. It was so mind numbingly difficult. I was so confused about what formula to use if you were rotating it about a certain axis, and then you had to consider whether it was given as cartesian, parametric, or polar. Oh god. I made it through though. The best advice I can give is to take it one day at a time. If you can survive everything up to series and sequences you'll be fine. I found the part of series and sequences to be like kindergarten math relative to the rest of the stuff. Good luck. ;-) It was the hardest A+ I ever earned, but it felt great. If I can understand it there is no reason you can't.

i hate calculus too! i am taking calc II next fall and i think i forgot everything from calculus I ! lol
Good luck@

About math...Most schools don't require 2 semesters worth. Having never taken Calculus in High School I was placed in Pre-Calc my freshman year, breezed through that with an A. Then Fall semester junior year shows up with Calc I, NOTHING LIKE PRE-CALC. I ended up getting a C in that course!! 😡

I had no idea what I was learning in calculus. To this day I have NO idea what I did in there, but I got a B so I won't complain.

I lump that class in with Ecology and European History (taught by a prof who voice was as monotoned as a person could talk) as classes I wasted days of my life.

I was the same way in undergrad, I came home sick everytime I had to go to math class. I just hated it. Just readin these posts I want to puke. Literally. I think it's the dumbest class ever. Just my opinion though. Good luck, hang in there! 😱 😱

In high school, I did great in my AP Calc class, but did terribly in college. It was mainly theory-based, and we had labs that accompanied the course. Our tests consisted of essay questions, not problems. It was a nightmare!!!
:scared:

I only took calc I, then I took stats instead of calc2 🙂 It's too bad that math doesn't count as science for AACOMAS....or good for some of us ;P

I have one thing to say. TI-92. That calculator helped me ace calc I & II. Absolutely the best $200 I ever spent.

Thanks guys, I got my first test back today and I got a 100!!!!!!!! w0000000t. I'm psyched. I studied my ASS OFF for that 100 though. Archer, I *have* take this calc II course to fulfill the requirements of a special program I'm in, even though it's not a prerequisite for many schools. I'm in a B.S./D.O. program with NYCOM and SUNY Geneseo, and Geneseo requires that all 7 year B.S./D.O. students take Calc I and II (can't sub in any other math courses) Trust me, if there was a way out of this I woulda found it by now and would DEFINATELY not be taking this course

congrats that is wonderful! good luck with the other tests!!!

I don't like math all that much...and I'm an engineer HAHAH

im an electrical engineer right now... 🙄

in school i was nicknamed the calculus kid. i knew that like the back of my hand, and was 2 years ahead of everyone else... math was a breeze and i looked forward to each class... yay... 😎

wow... you got to use calculators?? most of the stuff i did was with theory and variables and proofs... calcs wouldnt have helped much anyways i guess....

I don't like math much either 🙁 I really don't "get" math but I do ok with it (B's).

Marilyn

i was never the "calculus kid" (and if i was i wouldn't be bragging about it)...i was more into having fun in college - but i still got to be technical lead on a project at Boeing...go figure...guess math wasn't THAT important eh? especially when you got computers running FLUENT for my fluid mechanics calculations on subsonic flow models.
